Publicize Your Service.

  • Develop a press release directed to the opinion leaders in the industry.
  • Create Cross Promotions via LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube . . .
  • Develop relationships with organizations who share a common interest in your service.
  • Cultivate affiliate programs to bring in more business.
  • Initiate a pay-per-click campaign to  generate relevant traffic to your site and improve brand exposure.

Remember anything can go viral.  There is no formula for the perfect blend of sight, sound and motion that just rings off the hook.   Reach does not cume linearly, it grows logarithmically over time.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY, May 8th, 2012 – Charity golf outing to raise resources and awareness about pancreatic cancer, the fourth-leading cause of cancer death in the United States.   All net proceeds will benefit the Lustgarten Foundation, the nation’s largest private foundation dedicated solely to funding pancreatic cancer research.  The golf outing will be held Monday June 25th, 2012 at the McCann Golf Course in Poughkeepsie, NY.

The odds of surviving pancreatic cancer is just 6%, it is the most lethal cancer.  For now the only treatment for this disease is surgery.  Once diagnosed, with this cancer the chances of surviving are remote.  The Lustgarten Foundation is working on identifying a gene which could identify certain markers by a simple blood test, thus leading to any early detection.

There is no test to identify this deadly disease.  Early detection saves lives!

Bob Huzar is a pancreatic cancer survivor.  After coming home from a vacation in Mexico, Bob started experiencing abdominal pains and loss of appetite.  He thought it would go away, but after 6 weeks Bob finally went to see his doctor.  A mass was found on his pancreas, after further testing and several surgeries Bob’s cancer was caught at an early stage.  Mr. Huzar is hosting this charity golf outing to raise awareness and desperately needed funds to help find a cure.

Steps in the analysis

Approach data mining with an open mind so that you receptive to possibilities, opportunities and un-expected concepts.  Although the focus is specific, don’t eliminate a hunch.  Explore avenues  that may lead to important insights.

High-frequency words.

A base analysis examines the most frequent word-forms for anything that is unusual or particularly characteristic of the text in question. Frequency of word-forms is only roughly related to what a text says, but it is related, and so is useful to work with.

Collocations.

Collocations and clichés are strings of words that are remembered as wholes and often used together, such as two peas in a pod. Repetitive collocations are a strong indication of a trend or hot topic.

 

Concording

The essential idea behind the concordance is to direct your attention to the immediate linguistic environment of the specified word. To find a potentially interesting word, run a concordance on it.

Evaluate the concordance listing to unearth patterns.  Sort a listing according to the words to the left and right of the target words;  Sorting tends to bring out the patterns, since repetitions are grouped together.

Identify synonyms, writers tend to emphasize an idea by linking synonyms together or nearby each other. The text can itself helps create a reasonable list for further concording.  This is a recursive exercise, synonyms will tend to turn up others; when the law of diminishing returns asserts itself, it is time to stop. The result we may call a “fixed vocabulary”, to which can be added the contiguous collocations you have identified.  All together these represent a translation of an idea, as it were, into data.

Andrea Diamond and her Hudson Valley quilting colleague’s from the American Sewing Guild (www.asg.org) have graciously embarked upon the challenge of making and donating a double sized quilt, 73×85.  It nicely covers a queen sized mattress! 

“This is a huge endeavor, but once we caught the vision of creating for the cause of Leukemia, we decided to go for the wow. We could have gone for a smaller or less complicated pattern, but after conversations with campaign director Melody Mordock, we felt inspired to contribute our time and talents to the max.  Many of us have had, or have known of those in the throes of this debilitating disease and wanted to make a difference”, says Andrea.
